The Penguins had another strong week, going 4-0 this past week of play. In those four wins there was a common theme: Chris Kunitz scoring a goal.
None of Kunitz’s goals were of great importance. He didn’t win any shootouts or score on a last second breakaway goal, but he was consistent.
To start the week out, Kunitz scored a goal in the Pens 3-1 win over Carolina. He had six shots on the night and finished with 2 +/- rating. His goal put the Pens ahead for the win. On Wednesday, he, again, wasn’t the shining star, but his goal put the Pens in contention for the win. Friday, he added another goal. And Saturday another.
All in all, Kunitz scored four of his seven goals for the season this past week. So far this season Kunitz has been at a point-per-game pace and has provided consistency for the Penguins as they’ve started off their season strong.
For his play, Kunitz is this week’s player of the week.
