Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports is reporting that Pirates top prospect Gregory Polanco turned down a seven-year, $25 million dollar offer with three club options from the Pirates earlier this season.

The deal would have bought out Polanco’s arbitration years and allowed the Pirates to call him up much earlier than the expected June 10th date.
Had Polanco accepted the deal, the Pirates would have gotten a steal as they would have control of the outfielder for much less than he is worth if he pans out as expected at the Major League level. The team was successful earlier this year when they signed Starling Marte to a similar deal.
