The Pirates have the players in their farm system to complete a trade of this magnitude as Jim Callis of MLB.com rates the Pirates as the top contender that is best-positioned to make a trade due to young talent.
Pirates OF prospect Josh Bell’s name has come up as a possibility to be included in a trade for Lester along with another prospect if it were to happen.
Lester is 10-7 with a 2.52 ERA in 21 starts this year and will be a free agent after the season.
Stay with PSN as the July 31, 4 PM trade deadline approaches.
