After a year’s hiatus, the Pitt Panthers will once again hold their annual spring game this year under new head football coach Pat Narduzzi.
Although this time around their will be a twist.
St. Louis Rams defensive tackle and reigning NFL Rookie of the Year Aaron Donald, and Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald will serve as honorary head coaches for the 2015 Blue-Gold Spring Game.
Fitzgerald will coach the blue team in the game while Donald will coach the gold squad.
Narduzzi is happy that two of the Panthers greatest players in recent memory will be returning for the event.
“Larry and Aaron are not only legendary Panthers but also two of the elite players in the NFL,” Narduzzi said in a statement. “The University of Pittsburgh takes great pride in what they have accomplished as both players and people. We’re thrilled to have them as honorary head coaches for the spring game. I think they will have as much fun as our players and fans will.”
Pitt will use a game format, with the team divided by position into two squads rather than just the offense running plays against the defense as in year’s past.
The Panthers Blue-Gold game will be held April 18 at Highmark Stadium. Admission is free to the public.
