We are back for another week of ACC football.
Week 4 saw most teams in the conference have the week off, but of those that did play, both Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech suffered losses that saw them drop in this week’s ranking.
Where’s your favorite team sit?
Let’s find out.
1. Clemson (3-0, 1-0 ACC; Idle, Last Week Ranking-1)
The ACC needs a signature win. Clemson has had two weeks to prepare for Notre Dame and needs to deliver. Up Next- Saturday vs. No. 6 Notre Dame
2. Florida State (3-0, 1-0, Idle, LW-2)
The Seminoles also have had two weeks now to work on getting their offense in high gear. The offensive line needs to improve, as does quarterback Everett Golson. Up Next- Saturday vs. Wake Forest
3. Miami (3-0, 0-0, Idle, LW-4)
The Canes look good on offense and will get a Cincinnati team on Thursday that could be without their starting quarterback. Up Next-Thursday at Cincinnati
4. Duke (3-1, 1-0, defeated Georgia Tech 34-20, LW-10)
Many people like the Duke offense, but give the Blue Devils defense credit for holding Georgia Tech under 200 yards rushing. Up Next- Saturday vs. Boston College
5. North Carolina State (4-0, 0-0, South Alabama 63-13, LW-5)
The Wolfpack got through their cake non-conference schedule. Now we will see if they are ready for conference play. Up Next- Saturday vs. Louisville
6. North Carolina (3-1, 0-0, defeated Delaware 41-14, LW-7)
The Tar Heels rolled over Delaware, but the big story is that quarterback Marquise Williams struggled and was benched for Mitch Trubisky, who threw four touchdown passes. Do we have a quarterback controversy in Chapel Hill? Up Next- Saturday at Georgia Tech
7. Georgia Tech (2-2, 0-1, lost to Duke 34-20, LW-3)
The Yellow Jackets have only averaged 3.6 yards per rush in their past two losses. Up Next- Saturday vs. North Carolina
8. Boston College (3-1, 0-1, defeated NIU 17-14, LW-8)
Without their starting quarterback, the Eagles found a way to beat NIU by sticking to the ground game, rushing the ball an insane 63 times for 234 yards. Up Next- Saturday at Duke
9. Pitt (2-1, 0-0, Idle, LW-9)
With teams like Georgia Tech struggling, Pitt has a chance in the Coastal Division. They have to get off to a good start in conference play though. Up Next-Saturday at Virginia Tech
10. Syracuse (3-1, 1-0, lost to LSU 34-24, LW-11)
The Orange lost to LSU, but had a good showing as they were in the game for a good three quarters. Up Next-Idle
11. Virginia Tech (2-2, 0-0, lost to East Carolina 35-28, defeat, LW-6)
Another loss to East Carolina for Frank Beamer. The Hokies are a mess. They can’t run the ball and are taking a ton of penalties. They have to get things cleaned up by Saturday against a Pitt team that has had their number in recent years. Up Next- Saturday vs. Pitt
12. Louisville (1-3, 0-1, defeated to Samford 45-3, LW- 12)
Louisville finally got a win, but it is hard to take any positives from it, being against Samford. But I guess a win is a win. Up Next- Saturday at North Carolina State
13. Wake Forest (2-2, 0-1, lost to Indiana 31-24, LW-14)
Kendall Hinton started for the injured John Wolford and nearly brought Wake Forest back from a big hole but the end result is just another loss. Up Next- Saturday at Florida State
14. Virginia (1-3, 0-0, lost to Boise State 56-14, LW-13)
I give Virginia credit for their tough non-conference schedule, but they didn’t even compete against Boise State. Up Next- Idle
