Tigers 3 – Yankees 0
The Tigers took a two-games to none lead in the ALCS by way of strong pitching and some controversy. Anabel Sanchez went seven while only allowing six base runners (three walks, three hits) and striking out seven. On the other side of the mound, Kuroda only allowed five hits but three crossed the plate in the loss. The Tigers first got on the board in the seventh when Quintin Berry led off the inning with a double, Miguel Cabrera followed with a single to set up first and third. After a Prince Fielder strikeout, Delmon Young grounded out to make it 1 – 0.
After two outs in the eighth, Omar Infante singled to right, Austin Jackson would then single to right. Infante would round second too far and appear to be thrown out trying to get back but Umpire Jeff Nelson missed the tag and called him safe. Avisail Garcia and Miguel Cabrera would then follow with singles to make it 3 – 0. Phil Coke would come in for the Tigers and only allow one hit in two innings to close out the game.
