After speculation that Ben Roethlisberger might be back for the Steelers tilt against the Arizona Cardinals and former mentor Bruce Arians, Roethlisberger officially has been ruled out for the game that kicks off at 1 pm at Heinz Field.
Roethlisberger had practiced both Wednesday and Thursday in limited passing drills and despite showing some positive signs, he will miss his third straight start with an knee injury.
Fresh of of leading the Steelers to a thrilling comeback victory this past Monday against the San Diego Chargers, Michael Vick will once again be called upon to lead the team to a win.
Also ruled out for a third straight week is inside linebacker Ryan Shazier. For the second straight game, it was indicated that Shazier was likely good to go but once again he has been ruled out late after practicing throughout the week.
Though frustrating for Steeler fans, the loss of Shazier should be easier to overcome with Sean Spence filling in as a starter. Spence has been outstanding filling in for Shazier with 15 total tackles and a sack in his past two starts.
Starting strong safety Will Allen will also be out for the defense with an ankle injury. Robert Golden will likely get the start for Allen with Shamarko Thomas also available in reserve.
