It has been another memorable season for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown as his play down the stretch has been nothing short of spectacular.
That play has earned Brown the AFC Player of the Month honors for the month of December/January.
It marks the second consecutive month Brown has won the award and it is the third time in his career overall.
Brown led the NFL with 51 receptions for 642 yards during the month, including an NFL-leading 34 for first downs. He also caught five touchdowns to help to lead the Steelers to a 4-1 record during the stretch. His 51 receptions were nine more than any other NFL player.
He capped things off in the regular season finale against the Cleveland Browns with 13 receptions for 187 yards.
Brown finished the regular season as the NFL’s leading receiver with a career-high 1,834 yards and tied for first in the NFL with a career-high 136 receptions.
In the process he became the first player in Steelers’ history with back-to-back seasons with at least 1,700 yards from scrimmage and led the NFL with 2,074 combined yards.
He wasn’t the only Steelers player recognized as kicker Chris Boswell was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the month.
Boswell, the Steelers fourth kicker of the season, turned into quite the weapon, when head coach Mike Tomlin decides to use him.
He went 12-for-14 on field goal attempts, leading all kickers in field goals made, and 15-of-15 on his PATs in the five games. He was the only NFL player to total 50 or more points in that span.
On the season, Boswell set Steelers’ records for first-year kickers for points (113), field goal percentage (90.6) and most field goals made (29).
