AFC North Race Far From Over
It seems as though every year that the Pittsburgh Steelers contend for a division crown or at least a Wild Card berth, they were considered a frontrunner from the beginning. The question is not usually whether or not they will make the playoffs, but how far they will go. In 2013, however, an 0-4 and 2-6 start all but completely erased any thought of sniffing the playoffs, barring the optimistic possibility of a Steel City miracle. Now at 3-6 after a home win vs. Buffalo, the Steelers enter ... Read More
Schenn scores twice as Flyers stymie Penguins
Brayden Schenn scored twice and Ray Emery made 30 saves as the Philadelphia Flyers won their third straight game while handing the Penguins their third straight defeat. Pittsburgh struggled, once again, on the power play (1-4) and at even strength, being shut out in five on five play for the third straight game. Sidney Crosby's line came out flying in the opening seconds of the game. Crosby was stopped on a partial breakaway before Chris Kunitz allegedly scored off his own rebound. ... Read More
Pittsburgh Sporting News names its all-time Penguin roster
The Pittsburgh Penguins franchise was founded in 1967 and in that time has been home to some of the greatest players ever to play the game. While other teams in the NHL may boast a longer history than the Pittsburgh Penguins, few can match the Penguins in their history of great players and championships. Since their inception in 1967 as part of the NHL's first expansion from six to 12 teams, the Pens have been blessed with great players and three Stanley Cup victories. As we look forward to ... Zanna’s double-double leads Panthers past Fresno State
After serving a one game suspension for violating team rules, Pitt senior forward Talib Zanna made his 2013-14 season debut Tuesday night and did it with a bang, scoring 19 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, leading the Panthers to a 75-54 win over Fresno State. Zanna's big performance was coupled by a big game from guard Cameron Wright, who scored a career-high 13 points to go along with six rebounds. “My confidence level has gone up a lot," Wright said. “My teammates set me up on offense. ... Steelers fans aren’t ready for life without No. 7
First off, allow me to ensure that all readers understand that this is an editorial piece. My views may not be the same as other staff members here at “The Yinzer” – as a matter of fact, I’m pretty sure my views are much different. Secondly, this entire subject may be a moot issue. Originally reported by NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, a rumor that Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is unhappy in Pittsburgh and may demand a trade in the offseason broke this weekend. The rumor was so strong ... Read More
Why is trading Roethlisberger out of the question?
Before Sunday's game against Buffalo, Ian Rapoport reported that, according to team sources, Ben Roethlisberger was discontent with the offense and may seek a trade in the offseason. While the authenticity of Rapoport's sources has been widely questioned, most of Pittsburgh -fans and media alike- have tried to immediately quash any thoughts that the two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback would be dealt in the offseason. But if you're the Pittsburgh Steelers, cap strapped and stuck in last ... Read More

Steelers Week 10 Report card
After perhaps their most embarrassing effort in franchise history just one week ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers responded with one of their better efforts of the 2013 season on both sides of the ball Sunday in a 23-10 victory over the Buffalo Bills. While they were facing a rookie quarterback in E.J. Manuel who looked rusty and didn't present much of a challenge, a win is a win for a team desperate for them at this point in the season. For a change, there were a lot of good things to breakdown ... Read More
Angry defense seals 23-10 win
Seven days after allowing team records of 55 points and 610 yards at New England, the Pittsburgh Steelers (3-6) defeated the visiting Buffalo Bills (3-7) at Heinz Field Sunday afternoon. After much criticism of effort, age, ability, and Hall of Fame defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau, the defense held rookie E.J. Manuel to 155 yards passing and the Bills offense to a total of 227 yards in the 23-10 victory. Buffalo's only touchdown came with five seconds remaining on a 15-play, 80-yard drive to ... Read More
