No Surgery for Grilli, Return Unclear
Closer expected to miss 4-8 weeks (Flickr.com/Keith Allison) Pirates' closer Jason Grilli will not need surgery but has no definitive timetable for his return, according to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette's Bill Brink. Grilli met with renowned surgeon Dr. James Andrews who concluded the injury is a strained right flexor tendon. Andrews opted against surgery and prescribed rest instead. Several publications announced their preseason All-Americans this past week and two teams from the PSAC West landed players on the list. NHL schedule makes divisions pointless
Last week, the NHL released their schedule for the upcoming regular season. With division realignment, reverting to an 82 game season, and the 2014 Olympics in Sochi coming up in February, it's safe to say the schedule will look different from years' past.
