Jamie Dixon's Pitt Panthers still have a while to wait before they begin their first season of ACC competition, but at least they know who they will be playing. The ACC announced its opponents and game sites for the 2013-14 University of Pittsburgh men’s basketball season on Tuesday and the highlight of the Panthers schedule features home games against Duke and Syracuse. Pitt will open ACC play next year with an 18-game regular season schedule and will face each of the possible 14 ... Read More
Is UCLA RB Jonathan Franklin on Steelers’ Radar?
It's no secret that the Pittsburgh Steelers desperately need to address their running back situation. After flirting back-and-forth with the idea of signing free agent Ahmad Bradshaw, there is a good chance that the Steelers could instead elect to use a second-day pick on a back that they hope could become their featured runner for the next several years. If Steelers' general manager Kevin Colbert has his way, that guy would be UCLA's Jonathan Franklin. Despite a disappointing pro day, ... Read More
Jokinen’s spark has ignited Penguins
If you would have told me before the season that with four games left that the Penguins’ number one center would be Jussi Jokinen, I would have said you were crazy. Then again, if you would have told me he would be the most productive player that got via trade this season I would have said the same thing. Well looking at the stats and everything you can make an argument that both those statements are true. With a healthy Penguin squad, though, he becomes your third or fourth best option ... Read More

The Ottawa Senators did everything in their power to exact revenge on Matt Cooke for his hit on Erik Karlsson from earlier in the season. Unfortunately, they forgot to show up for the first 40 minutes of the game and ultimately fell to the Penguins 3-1, Monday night. Pairing the loss with a win by the Winnipeg Jets, the Senators now lead the 8th and final spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs by a point. Yinzer of the Week: Brenden Morrow
With the win yesterday, the Penguins clinched home ice advantage throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs. Despite being on the ice, the Pens have been on fire this season and have won 20 of their last 22 contests. This past week they went a perfect 3-0 and Brenden Morrow was a big part of that success. Morrow scored two goals on two different occasions this past week during the Pens three victories. Last Saturday, Morrow shot a perfect 100 percent, netting both of his shots, one of which was ... Miles continues journey to NFL Draft
Every young football player has one goal in mind: making it to the NFL. Rontez Miles is no different. After leading his team in tackles and interceptions this past season, Miles' next step is the NFL Draft. If drafted, Miles will be only the fourth player in Cal U history to be drafted, joining Elmo Natali, Judson Flint, and Tommie Campbell. "It would mean a lot to be only the fourth person to be drafted from Cal U," Miles said. "Just to be in the same category as those guys and also this ... Read More
Pirates have a solid one-two punch with Burnett and Rodriguez
Over the past two seasons, the Pirates have made some moves to bolster their starting rotation. Before last season started, they acquired A.J. Burnett from the New York Yankees. Then half way through last season, they picked up Wandy Rodriguez from the Houston Astros. So far this season, those two have combined to be one of the best one-two punches in all of baseball. A.J. Burnett has a phenomenal season last year as he went 16-10 with a 3.51 earned run average. So far this season he has ... Read More

The Pittsburgh Penguins hung in against a tough Boston Bruins team, playing in an arena full of emotional fans, and came away with a sixth straight victory. Thanks in large part to two power play goals in the third period, the Penguins exited Boston with a 3-2 victory and the number one seed in the Eastern Conference. The game was originally scheduled for yesterday but was postponed due to the second suspect of the Boston Marathon bombing still on the loose. The NHL rescheduled the game ... Read More
Pittsburgh Power Reverse Offensive Curse, Beat The New Orleans VooDoo
It’s amazing what a little change can do for a struggling offense. One week after being shut out in the first half and scoring 14 points in Chicago, the Pittsburgh Power (1-3) decided to bring in an offensive consultant to help on the bench. Jon Lyles, the former offensive coordinator of the Bossier-Shreveport Battlewings of the AF2 league, got some immediate results out of the Power and quarterback Jordan Jefferson. Pittsburgh crossed the 40 point barrier for the first time this season, ... Read More
