New lines make more sense for Pens
Only eight games into the 2015–16 season, the Pittsburgh Penguins decided to break up Phil Kessel and Sidney Crosby and move the former on a line with Evgeni Malkin. The move bumped up Patric Hornqvist to the first line with Crosby. The W&J Presidents entered last Saturday’s game against case Western Reserve knowing that if they won out they would more than likely be heading back to the NCAA Division III playoffs. Those playoff hopes took a huge hit as the Presidents dropped their second game of the season in a 35-28 loss. Clarion Golden Eagles fall for first time; SRU holds on to highlight PSAC play
Some big games highlighted this week's PSAC West action, and the outcomes came out even bigger. Clarion fell for the first time this season at the hands of the Cal Vulcans, who picked off one of the nation's most efficient quarterbacks six times. Then, on Saturday night, Slippery Rock held off a potent rushing attack from IUP and won by a single point. Despite the loss, Clarion remains atop the PSAC West, but it fell out of the AFCA Top 25. As the No. 23 Pitt Panthers get ready for a huge game at Heinz Field Thursday night against North Carolina, they will honor one of their former greats during the contest. Tyler Boyd leads three Pitt players to earn ACC honors
After their big win Saturday against Syracuse that saw the Pitt Panthers improve to 6-1 on the season and 4-0 in ACC play, a number of Panthers players were honored by the ACC for their performances on Saturday. Wide receiver Tyler Boyd, running back Qadree Ollison and linebacker Matt Galambos all earned ACC weekly honors. Bobby Farnham claimed by Devils
The Pittsburgh Penguins lost a player on Monday, when forward Bobby Farnham was claimed on waivers by the New Jersey Devils. Farnham was placed on waivers on Sunday by the Penguins. He signed a two-way contract before the season, so it was expected he would clear waivers and be assigned to the Penguins' farm team in Wilkes-Barre. But the Devils are taking a shot on the forward.
