It is really hard to pin point anything that the Pittsburgh Penguins may need to add to their roster, but one thing may be sticking out in Penguins fans minds. A veteran presence may be something many people overlook or say is overrated, but it is something that sticks out between the 2009 Stanley Cup year to this team. A name that has surfaced through the grapevine is Calgary Flames forward Jarome Iginla. Iginla could be that veteran presence that this team could use moving forward the rest ... Read More
Unnamed Teammate Calls out LaMarr Woodley for Poor Performance
According to Ron Cook of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette an unnamed player on the Pittsburgh Steelers roster called out LaMarr Woodley. Woodley had his second straight injury riddled season in 2012, but unlike 2011 when he was on the field he was ineffective. During the start of the 2011 season Woodley was being considered for the defensive player of the year award, but a serious hamstring injury plagued him for the rest of the year. 2012 was supposed to be Woodley's chance to come back from ... Martin’s late goal pushes Pens past Sabres
With the country celebrating "Hockey Day in America" it was only fitting than an American scored the game-winning goal; even if the losing goaltender was from the United States as well. Paul Martin scored his second goal of the year with 2:04 remaining in the third period to lift the Penguins over the Sabres, 4-3. The Penguins took a 1-0 lead just 35 seconds into the opening period on their first shot of the game. Chris Kunitz won a race to the puck along the boards in the offensive zone, ... Read More
Late first half run dooms Panthers in loss to Marquette
It is often said that the final four minutes of the first half and the first four minutes of the second half are the two most important stretches of a game. That theory held true Saturday afternoon in Marquette as the No. 18 Golden Eagles blitzed No. 16 Pitt with a 17-2 combined run over that span to cruise to a 79-69 Big East Conference victory. A big problem for the Panthers was Marquette’s Vander Blue, who scored 18 first half points and led a balanced Golden Eagles attack that couldn’t ... Read More
Could Doug Legursky be Steelers starting center in 2013?
The Steelers are going to have to figure out their starting offensive line for 2013. Four of the five starters are already being projected. Those players are Marcus Gilbert, Mike Adams, David DeCastro, and Maurkice Pouncey. The only open position on the line is left guard which is the spot the Steelers will have to fill this off-season. Willie Colon started at left guard in 2012, but he is considered a potential cap casualty option for the Steelers who need to clear cap space this off-season. ... Read More

Tangradi: “Sometimes I felt like I had a short leash out there.”
Tonight, the Penguins will be back in Winnipeg to take on the Jets for the second time this season. They also will be taking on an old friend as well. Newly acquired winger Eric Tangradi will play his first game in a Jets uniform against his former team, and he had a lot to say about them after the Jets’ morning skate today. "It's like running into your ex at the bar the next night," Tangradi said. Tangradi told the Post-Gazette’s Dave Molinari that “Sometimes I felt like I had a short ... Read More

Growing up as a kid from Pittsburgh who loved to play and watch baseball, it was always a dream of mine to put on that Pirate uniform and take the field for my hometown team. By playing for the team that was located in your city and the team that you grew up watching would be a life changing experience. Everyone wants to be that “hometown hero” and ... Read More
Pitt’s Steven Adams resembling legitimate NBA prospect
Coming into the season many felt that incoming Pitt freshman center Steven Adams could be a one-and-done type of player. Adams had the attention of many NBA scouts before he even played a game in a Pitt uniform and given his size and massive wingspan, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him head for the greener pastures after only one season of collegiate ball. But things didn't exactly start that way for Adams as early in the season he resembled a lost freshman, much more than he did a ... Read More
