The Pittsburgh Steelers headed to San Diego for a Monday night road game and rallied late to walk away with a 24-20 victory. There were some positives to take away from the Steelers performance and also a ton of negatives that stick out. I take a look back at Monday’s night’s performance and hand out my weekly grades in this week’s edition of our Steelers Report Card. Quarterback- For over 52 minutes of football, Mike Vick was not very good, which in reality should be expected. What ... Read More

Pitt is starting to buy into what Pat Narduzzi is selling
If you were watching Pitt's victory over Virginia on Saturday at Heinz Field, you probably had similar reactions to what I did. Leading 26-13 in the fourth quarter, the Panthers defense watched Virginia quarterback Matt Johns connect on a 32-yard touchdown pass to make it a one possession game. Then predictably the Panthers had to punt the ball back to the Cavaliers, who had the ball with a chance to tie the football game late in the fourth quarter. I for one found myself saying in the ... Pitt starts fast, holds off Virginia
Pitt fans have seen the story plenty of times over the year. The Panthers win a big game and then somehow find a way to take two steps backwards the next couple weeks. After a road victory last Saturday at Virginia Tech, Pat Narduzzi’s Pitt team was looking to avoid that trap when they hosted Virginia on Saturday at Heinz Field. The Panthers started fast and nearly gave one away, but at the end of the day Pitt escaped with a 26-19 victory, improving to 4-1 for the first time since the 2009 ... Read More

Jamie Dixon ready to kick things off with new look roster
The Pitt men's basketball team is coming off a 15th consecutive postseason appearance. Most schools would be happy with that, but Jamie Dixon and company are coming off a very disappointing 2014-15 campaign which saw them end up in the NIT. For the Panthers to get back on track and return to the NCAA Tournament, Dixon will have to turn things around with a lot of new faces. Gone are graduated guard Cameron Wright, and big men Derrick Randall and Aron Nwankwo. Also gone are swingman ... Read More

What should the Pens expect from Sergei Plotnikov?
The Pittsburgh Penguins offense fell flat in the 2015–16 season opener against the Dallas Stars on Thursday night. Rookie left-winger Sergei Plotnikov, imported to the NHL after six seasons in the Russian-based KHL, looked particularly flat. Plotnikov made headlines by paying around $500,000 to negate the final year of a KHL contract with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl and join the Penguins as the team allegedly sought a Russian winger to play on a line with Evgeni Malkin. Based on some simple ... Read More
