Cody Schroeder went 20-of-29 as the Vulcans show why they are a true Division II force. Not only was the California Offense efficient and effective, the D stood strong and shut out the basement dwelling Lock Haven squad 30-0. The Vulcan D allowed a daunting 25 yards on the ground, while forcing two interceptions of LHU Quarterback Jarrett Kratzer. The Vulcans also attacked on the ground with Senior Lamont Smith gaining 121 yards on 21 carries. Excluding a three-point loss to West Chester is ... Read More
Waynesburg remains perfect with victory over Bethany
BETHANY, W.Va. (Oct. 13) – During the 2010 and 2011 seasons, the one thing that seemed to keep the Waynesburg University football team from getting to where it wanted to go was coming up short in close games. Over those two campaigns, the Jackets were 4-8 in games decided by a touchdown or less. In 2012, Waynesburg has found a way to win those close games, and did so once again during Saturday’s Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) contest at Bethany. The Yellow Jackets trailed the ... Duquesne Upset by CCSU
The bye week came at a bad time for the Duquesne Dukes as they saw their four-game win streak come to an end, 38-31 at the hands of previously winless Central Connecticut State. Star running back Larry McCoy, who entered the game less than 165 yards away from setting the DU all-time school record for rushing, missed the game due to injury, but his replacement Ryan Ho rushed for a career-high 114 yards, rushing for one touchdown and also catching a scoring pass for DU. However the ... Read More
Lousy Third Quarter Sends Pitt to Second Straight Loss
For a half at least, the Pitt Panthers looked well underway to knocking off their second Top 25 team of the season. The they came out of the locker room after halftime and everything changed. No. 18 Louisville outscored Pitt 21-0 in the third quarter and turned a 21-17 halftime deficit into a 38-21 lead, cruising the rest of the way to a 45-35 victory, ruining Pitt's homecoming. Louisville's Senorise Perry rushed for 101 yards and a career-high four touchdowns and Teddy ... Read More
Pittsburgh Steelers need to shift their focus back onto field.
Rashard Mendenhall is back at his old Twitter nonsense. This time he is calling out Steeler Nation for not supporting this team. “Seriously, if you’re gonna talk trash about your team and everyone on it, don’t call yourself a fan. A fan is a supporter.” – Rashard Mendenhall (@R_Mendenhall on Twitter) Is it really talking trash, or more like discussing the cold hard truth about this team? My gut feeling is that the Steelers need a wakeup call in more ways than one. Maybe the Steelers need to ... Read More
Not our Grandfather’s Steelers
Yikes, that is pretty much an easy way to describe the Steelers season thus far. They are sitting at 2-3 and not looking that great. Since I am a glass half full kind of guy, I believe this season could be much worse than it has been so far. With a losing record after five games, people want to start putting the blame on one person and or group. Breaking it down, problems lie within all phases of their game. Offensively the Steelers are statistically playing much better than a 2-3 team, well ... Read More
Pittsburgh Steelers Report Card Following Loss to Titans
Thursday night turned into a lost opportunity for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Not only did they lose a game they should have won, but the defense blew another lead, a trend that’s starting to become a bit disturbing to watch. In addition to blowing a lead, some of the other problems that have plagued this team so far this season continued to show up, including the inability to run the football. But as mentioned before, the Steelers suffered more than a defeat as they continued to lose ... Read More
Steelers drop to 2-3 after shocking loss to Titans
The Steelers fell on another last second field goal tonight, this one coming on the leg of Rob Bironas. On a game the Steelers were favored and picked to win by almost everybody, they once again played down to their competition and were unable to come away with a victory. The Titans were able to strike first as they had their opening drive result in a Rob Bironas 22-yard field goal. The field goal wasn't as easy as it seems, as Bironas banked it off the post, but the ball was still able to ... Read More
Lockout Hinders Best NHL Season in Years
The 2012-2013 season was supposed to start tonight. Instead, the league is in a labor dispute with the Player's Association which has led to a lockout, and subsequent work stoppage. As a result, the first two weeks of the season, totaling 82 games, has been cancelled. What a shame. After rebuilding a league that was pushed to the brink of extinction in 2006, the owners and players simply cannot find a common ground to get a deal in place and start the season on time. The fans will always come ... Read More
