The NFL is typically considered a man’s world. Scantily clad cheerleaders shakin’ their moneymakers on the sidelines of most stadiums (Of course, you won’t find them at Heinz field, one of many reasons I’m proud to be a Yinzer - but that’s another article). Advertisements for tough, rugged trucks, beer commercials focusing on “man laws”. If you don’t have hair on your chest, you don’t quite belong on Sundays from September through January. Or at least that’s the misconception some people still ... Read More
Steelers sneak past Eagles on Suisham field goal
After a having the week off, the Steelers had themselves a tough opponent today, the Philadelphia Eagles. Both teams opened up looking fairly sloppy. The Eagles had a huge chance to strike early in the first quarter, but blew the opportunity. On a first and goal play, a designed quarterback draw resulted in Michael Vick fumbling in the end zone, which Larry Foote was able to recover. The Steelers, despite playing an unimpressive first quarter, were able to strike first. Rashard Mendenhall, in ... Read More

Why NHL Owners Want a Bigger Share
Earlier this week it was announced that the NHL was canceling the first two weeks of the regular season. The league has been in a battle with the NHLPA over a new CBA since July and while their recent string of meetings has been an encouraging sign, both parties are still far apart. The biggest issue has been revenue sharing. While the players would like like to keep 57% of hockey related revenue, the owners would like them to take 47% instead. Given that the league makes money off of the ... Read More
Sunseri, Missed Opportunities Doom Panthers
The bye week came at a bad time for the Pitt Panthers, as Paul Chryst's team had the makings of beginning to look like a good football team for a couple of weeks before having to wait 13 days in between games. That had an effect Friday night against Big East Conference rival Syracuse, as Pitt shot themselves in the foot all night long, eventually falling to the Orange 14-13, as Syracuse won its first game against an FBS team in their past eight tries. Coming off two of the best ... Read More
Week 5 Predictions in the NFL
Denver at New England This game will be looked upon solely as Manning vs Brady to see which future hall of famer will have the better game and lead his team to victory. Last week Manning looked good in his team's dismantling of the Raiders, while Brady and the Patriots scored 45 second half points to come back and beat the Bills. Both offenses are hot and I believe this game will come down to which defense can get to the quarterback the most and force a turnover. I expect a high scoring game ... Read More

Will the NHL use replacement players?
25 years ago today, the National Football League used replacement players in regular season games for the first time in its history. It was a groundbreaking move, one that the league had often threatened, but never reverted to until then. The strike lasted for three total weeks before finally coming to an end. So that begs the question, the NHL has canceled the first two weeks of the season, but could they possibly retain the rest of the schedule and bring in replacement players until the ... Read More
Dukes Picked to Finish Last in A-10 Preseason Coaches’ Poll
If the games were played on paper, then the Duquesne Men's Basketball Team wouldn't stand a chance, at least according to the other coaches in the Atlantic 10.. Duquesne was picked to finish last in the Atlantic 10 Conference and did not land any players on the A-10 Preseason All-Conference, All-Defense or All-Rookie teams in the 2012 A-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll. However the other coaches may know what they are talking about as first-year head coach Jim Ferry could have his hands full ... Read More
