Yesterday, our Michael Waterloo said that the NFL needed to set a precedent by suspending Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin for getting in the way of Jacoby Jones along the sidelines on Thanksgiving. While a suspension may not happen, it looks as if the league may use the Steelers as an example after all. According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Steelers fear that they'll be fined for the ordeal, as well as possibly losing a future draft pick. La Canfora said the act is under ... Read More
Mike Tomlin deserves more than a fine from the league
OK, before you bash me, which is going to happen, let me preface this article off the right way. Regardless if it was Mike Tomlin, John Harbaugh, Tony Dungy, John Fox or Vince Lombardi, I'd feel the same way. Tomlin deserves not just a fine, but he needs to be suspended at least one game by the NFL for intentionally getting in the way of Jacoby Jones on Thanksgiving. Intentional or not — it was — Tomlin needs to sit out one game. The NFL admitted that it blew the call, and the league said ... Read More
Steeler of the Week: Ben Roethlisberger
Trade Ben Roethlisberger? Roethlisberger isn't elite? Time to throw in the towel on the season, right? All of the above have been thrown around in the past few weeks regarding Roethlisberger and the Steelers season, but for the third consecutive game, the Steelers and their quarterback showed that they aren't going anywhere. With the win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, the Steelers improved to 5-6 on the season, and are one of a plethora of teams in the hunt for the final AFC playoff ... Read More
Andrew McCutchen named National League MVP
For the past two seasons, you've heard the MVP chants ring out for Andrew McCutchen around PNC Park. After finishing third last year in the MVP voting, pundits questioned whether or not he would be able to sustain his success this year. Not only did he sustain it, but he outdid himself, as McCutchen was named the National League MVP. McCutchen beat Yadier Molina of the St. Louis Cardinals and Paul Goldschmidt of the Arizona Diamondbacks for the award. McCutchen wins the award two days ... Read More

Manuel hasn't played since suffering a knee injury in Buffalo's Week 5 game against Cleveland. The Florida State product has been impressive in his four full games for the Bills, as he's passed for 985 yards and five touchdowns, leading his team to a 2-2 record. Despite their performance last week against the Patriots, the Steelers enter their game ... Read More
Cup of Joe: Where’s the blame for Dick LeBeau?
After another, umm, eventful Steelers game on Sunday, I checked the comments to the recap on Pittsburgh Sporting News. It's kind of been a normal routine for me after each game. Each week, or should I say, after each loss, I see the same comments over and over and over again. People want Mike Tomlin and Todd Haley fired, Ben Roethlisberger traded or cut and other solutions (excuses) that seem routine. Now, I've been on record many times saying that the main problem for the Steelers failures ... Read More
Cup of Joe: Why does Pittsburgh hate the NBA?
It's getting to be that time of the year again. Somewhere, on some blog or some radio station, you'll hear the discussion as to whether or not Pittsburgh could support an NBA team. In fact, we discussed this topic last year HERE. But that isn't what this post is about. That's old news. Yesterday, on the Pittsburgh Sporting News Facebook page, I asked if the people of Pittsburgh cared that the NBA season was about to tip off. Here were some of the more entertaining responses: Jay Urso - ... Read More
