One of the best parts of the All Star Game is the festivities that go along with it. The players get a little break from their day-t0-day stresses of the game and get to relax and have a little fun with each other and with the fans. One of the most talked about All Star festivities in baseball is the Home Run Derby. This Tuesday, July 16th, CONSOLE Energy Park will turn into the home of the long ball when Frontier League’s best sluggers take the field to see how many they can knock over the fence.
Here’s a list of the participants, including how many home runs they’ve hit this season.
Andrew Davis, Lake Erie Crushers – 12
Steve McQuail, Schaumburg Boomers – 11
Jon Myers, Gateway Grizzlies – 11
Patrick McKenna, Normal Cornbelters – 10
CJ Beatty, Washington Wild Things – 10
Chase Burch, Traverse City Beach Bums – 9
Phil Wunderlich, River City Rascals – 8
Balbino Fuenmayor, Frontier Greys – 7
Beatty will represent the home town team in the derby after leading the team in homers so far this season. Beatty, who is the emotional leader of the Wild Things, gives motivational speeches when he’s not on the diamond. He brings passion and motivation to Washington’s team, but now he’ll be bringing fun and excitement to the hometown crowd in Washington Tuesday night. The derby starts at 5:05 pm ET. Following the derby there is an exhibition softball game where the Frontier League All Stars will take on the National Pro-Fastpitch League Akron-Racers.
