Pro Bowl WR Antonio Brown restructured his contract on Friday, saving the Pittsburgh Steelers $4 million in cap space for the 2014-15 season. The story was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Multiple efforts have been made recently in order to get under the salary cap, as well as to provide space for free agency and the April draft. Earlier this week, Larry Foote, Curtis Brown, and Levi Brown were cut in addition to the contract extensions of TE Heath Miller and S Troy Polamalu.
Antonio Brown signed a five-year contract extension two years ago worth over $40 million. He comes off of a career season, having caught 110 passes for 1,499 yards, both ranking second in the NFL. He also had a career-high eight touchdowns.
