Class-AAAA
Central Catholic vs. North Allegheny
Central Catholic, victorious over Shaler 42-6 last week, travels to Wexford to take on the North Allegheny Tigers. The Tigers look to bounce back after a 28-14 loss to Pine Richland last week. Through two games, Central Catholic has allowed 18 total points on defense. Expect a hard fought battle throughout the game with Central Catholic coming out on top.
Prediction: Central Catholic 35 North Allegheny 28
Class-AAA
Mars vs. Franklin Regional
Mars looks to move 3-0 on the season as they travel to Murrysville to take on Franklin Regional Friday night. The Panthers lost a tough game to Hollidaysburg last Friday, 21-17, and are hoping to get on the good side of .500 against the Fightin’ Planets. Mars has eclipsed 30 points in both of their games so far this season as Franklin Regional has allowed only three touchdowns through two games. Look for the Fightin’ Planets to win this conference game and move to 3-0.
Prediction: Mars 33 Franklin Regional 24.
Class-AA
Beaver vs. Beaver Falls
Beaver hosts Beaver Falls in our Class-AA matchup of the week. The Bobcats of Beaver are coming off two big victories on the road and return home looking for their first home win of the season over the rival Tigers. Beaver Falls has allowed only one touchdown on the season and looks to move to 3-0 with a win over Beaver. In their first major test of the season, look for a lot of points to be scored in this rivalry game.
Prediction: Beaver Falls 42 Beaver 35.
Class-A
Greensburg Central Catholic vs. Clairton
Greensburg Central Catholic hits the road to take on conference foe, Clairton in a matchup of unbeatens. Clairton has out scored their opponents 144-6 in their two games so far this season. The Bears look to keep their streak of scoring 72 points per game going against a Centurions team who already has a shutout this season. In mythology, the Centurion would usually beat the Bear, however in WPIAL football, the Bear beats the Centurion.
Prediction: Clairton 56 Greensburg Central Catholic 17.
