There are many questions and concerns swirling around college football these days. Most notably, players wanting to reek benefits from the universities that give these players free rides and national attention. However, there is one issue that is getting completely ridiculous and doesn’t look like its going to stop anytime soon.
These players work very hard to get to this stage and their families, youth coaches and mentors should be praised. Instead it’s their girlfriends getting the national attention which is an absolute joke. This all started with Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron and Katherine Webb. Webb became an immediate pseudo celebrity simply by being the girlfriend of Alabama’s star quarterback. Webb made her reality show debut on the celebrity diving show, “Splash.”
This next player needs no introduction unless you’ve been living under a rock for a couple of years. Johnny Football is the biggest villain in college football today. Mr. Manziel comes from a great family and a great upbringing. Sarah Savage, however, got immediate national attention for being on the arm of Mr. Manziel. Miss Savage has a bright future in modeling, however, without Manziel, she never would have gained a national spotlight for the simple fact of dating a football player.
Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has played one game in his collegiate career against an overmatched young Pitt defense. However, we have already met Breion Allen. Winston has not won any awards, any big games or broken any significant records. So it’s absolutely preposterous and completely ridiculous that Allen will gain instant fame, however that’s exactly what’s going to happen and it needs to stop.
