Steelers’ head coach Mike Tomlin announced today cornerback Cortez Allen had undergone “minor” knee surgery that is expected to keep him off the field for a few weeks. Here is Tomlin’s full statement per Steelers.com.
“Earlier today, Cortez had minor surgery on his right knee. We wanted him to get the surgery done now so he can begin rehabilitating immediately. This surgery was a minor procedure and will have no long-term effects on his return to the field. We look forward to his rehabilitation process and having him back on the field in a couple of weeks.“
The Citadel product had missed the last three practices due to the injury. William Gay is expected to be the #2 cornerback and Curtis Brown has received the bulk of the #3 duties in Allen’s recent absence.
