After dropping two PSAC games, the IUP Crimson Hawks have been on a tear. This week was no different as they picked up two more conference wins. Giving them a big lift this week was Brandon Norfleet.
Norfleet, a 6-foot-4 sophomore guard, led the way for the Crimson Hawks on both occasions over the past week.
In a 91-68 win over Pitt-Johnston, Norfleet scored a career-high and game-high 25 points to go with his six rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block while only committing two turnovers. The Virginia Beach, Va. native shot 9-of-14 from the field and a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line. Four of his six rebounds came on the offensive end.
Three days after his career performance, Norfleet scored 20 points in an 82-61 win over Clarion. To go with his game-high in points, Norfleet pulled down seven rebounds, had three assists and swiped two passes. He never had a single turnover and only committed one foul in his 25 minutes on the floor. During the game he shot 8-of-13 from the field including 1-of-2 from long range. He also went 3-of-6 from the line.
For the week, Norfleet averaged 22.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals. He also shot a collective 17-of-27 (62.9 %) from the field and 10-of-13 (76.9 %) from the charity stripe.
For his career-setting week, Norfleet is this week’s Pittsburgh Sporting News player of the week.
