It was a rough week for most of the PSAC West, but not for IUP.
The Crimson Hawks had a solid ground attack against winless Millersville Saturday, racking up 303 yards on the ground. A big part of that ground game was freshman running back Izzy Green.
Green had 103 yards on 16 carries and two scores on the ground, averaging 6.3 yards per carry. With a good chunk of his action coming in the second half with the Hawks up big, Green took advantage.
On his first scoring drive, Green had six carries for 59 yards for the Hawks. He pounded the ball in later from five yards out to gain his second touchdown of the day.
The 100-yard performance is Green’s first in his career. His strong day now shoes IUP another weapon they have in an already powerful running game. This will likely be just the first of many big games in Green’s career.
For his strong play over the weekend, Green is this week’s Player of the Week.
