Sidney Crosby was award the Ted Lindsay award, Saturday night. Formerly known as the Lester B Pearson, the Ted Lindsay award is given to the most outstanding player voted on by the players. It is Crosby’s second such award, the first coming in 2007.
Crosby had a chance to win the Art Ross Trophy for most points, and the Hart Trophy for Most Valuable Player, but lost both when he was injured on March 30th. Crosby broke his jaw and missed the last quarter of the season.
Marty St. Louis overcame Crosby’s league leading point total with just a few games remaining in the season to claim the Art Ross Trophy. Alexander Ovechkin took home his third Hart Trophy as the league MVP. Ovechkin started off slow but ended up with a league leading 32 goals.
Sidney Crosby and Ray Shero, GM, were the only two Penguins to win awards this season. Kris Letang was a finalist for the Norris Trophy but PK Subban ended up with the award for best NHL defenseman.
