The Duquesne Dukes begin 2015-16 season play with an exhibition game against Urbana tonight at 7 p.m. at the A.J. Palumbo Center.
Led in their fourth season under head Coach Jim Ferry, the Dukes return four starters: senior guards Derrick Colter and Micah Mason, senior forward Jeremiah Jones and junior center Darius Lewis.
The Dukes add to their roster freshmen scholarship players Nakye Sanders, a forward, and Josh Steel, a guard. Freshman forward Zach Snyder will also contend for playing time.
The Blue Knights return three of their top four scorers from a 6-23 team, including lone senior Mike Newton and sophomores Carlas Jackson and Matt Csuhran. Urbana competes in the NCAA Division II Mountain East Conference (MEC).
Duquesne’s sophomore guard Rene Castro (Butler) and freshman guard Mar’Qywell Jackson (UTEP) are eligible after transferring last season.
The 2015-16 Atlantic 10 annual preseason poll picked Duquesne to finish 11th. This is the 100th season for Duquesne men’s basketball.
