Micah Mason and Darius Lewis led the Dukes with 16 points each, helping Duquesne to an 91-62 exhibition win over Urbana at the A.J. Palumbo Center Tuesday evening.
Lewis scored 14 of his 16 points in the first half while Mason hit four 3-pointers in the first seven minutes of the second half. Derrick Colter added 15 points and Jeremiah Jones put up 11 points. Lewis’ 16 points surpassed his regular season career high of 11 points he scored last year against UTPA.
Mike Newton led Urbana with 14 points.
Urbana, which averaged 81.4 ppg last season, missed its first nine shots. Duquesne jumped to a 21-1 lead, thanks in part to a pair of Colter 3-pointers and Lewis’ four points in the first three minutes. The Dukes held the Blue Knights without a field goal for the first 7:59.
Duquesne led 50-20 at halftime.
Jones, L.G. Gill, Lewis, Mason and Colter started for the Dukes, with Nakye Sanders and Jordan Robinson coming off the bench. Each player in uniform saw action.
Duquesne opens the regular season at home against Seton Hill on Friday at 7 p.m. (ET).
