The Duquesne Dukes (4-5) look to build upon the UMass Lowell win last Saturday as they host the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks (6-8) tomorrow at 2:00 pm ET at the A.J. Palumbo Center.
The Dukes are returning from a 79-63 win against UMass Lowell on Saturday, Dec. 20 that ended the team’s four-game losing streak. Duquesne shot .518 from the field and attained a Jim Ferry era-best 12-of-20 (.600) from the 3-point range. Junior guard Micah Mason led the Dukes with 17 points, hitting all five of his 3-point attempts.
Duquesne leads the series 2-0 at Pittsburgh, having never met at Princess Anne, Md. This is the first meeting between the two teams since a 74-71 Duquesne overtime win on December 31, 2002.
Maryland Eastern Shore won their last contest on December 22 in an 82-80 win at St. Bonaventure. This victory marked the first time the Hawks had defeated a current Atlantic 10 team in 45 years prior to their 72-66 win at Fordham on Nov. 29. The team has won five of its past seven games and is 3-5 on the road.
The Hawks finished last year with a 6-24 record in its first season under head coach Bobby Collins. Collins led Winston-Salem to the NCAA Division II tournament in three of his last four seasons before coming to Maryland Eastern Shore.
