Duquesne (5-6) prepares to open Atlantic 10 play on the road against Dayton (10-2) Saturday at 1:00 p.m. ET at the UD Arena.
The Flyers, who were picked to finish 3rd in the Atlantic 10 in the preseason poll, have an undefeated 7-0 home record. Dayton is coming off a 78-74 Tuesday home win over Ole Miss.
The Dukes look to replicate a Tuesday 78-72 Texas-Pan American win. Duquesne is 3-5 in its past eight games at the UD Arena and is 1-2 on the road this season.
The NBCSN nationally televised game marks the 70th meeting between the two schools in a series dating back to 1953. Dayton leads the series 47-22.
Last year, Duquesne led by 18 points early in the second half before dropping a 57-54 decision to the Flyers at the CONSOL Energy Center. The Dukes are 6-28 all time at Dayton, however the team is 19-18 in Atlantic 10 openers, including 6-12 when opening on the road.
Duquesne’s starting backcourt of junior guards Derrick Colter and Micah Mason is shooting a combined .508 from the 3-point arc this season. Through the Dec. 30 games, Colter is ranked first nationally in 3-point percentage while Mason is 25th.
Missing from the Dayton roster will be junior Devon Scott (9.1 ppg, 7.4 rebounds) and sophomore Jalen Robinson (3.2 ppg, 2.4 rebounds) who were dismissed from the team on Dec. 17. Scott was a starter in Dayton’s first nine games of the season.
The game will be covered by the Atlantic 10 Digital Network (http://www.atlantic10.com/mediaPortal/player.dbml?&db_oem_id=31600&mid=80312), iHeartRadio, 3WS H2, and streaming Red Zone Media (http://www.redzonemedia.com/viewschedule.asp?sportID=2&SchoolID=52), in addition to being broadcast by NBC Sports Network.
