Duquesne improved to 7-5 Thursday night with a runaway 79-55 victory over Appalachia State (4-9). The victory was Duquesne’s fourth in a row and marks the longest win streak since the 2010-2011 season, when the Dukes won 11 straight games under coach Everhart.
Ovie Soko again led Duquesne with 22 points, as Ferry substituted players freely throughout the first half. 11 different players made appearances on the floor before halftime, when the Dukes led 49-24. Tra’Vaughn White led all scorers off the bench with 14, and Duquesne’s bench outscored the opponents’ bench 17-2 in the first half. Ten of the eleven players who saw action scored points.
In Soko’s fourth consecutive game over 20 points, Duquesne maintained at least a 19 point lead throughout the entire second half. By game’s end, the Duquesne bench outscored Appalachian State’s bench 32-7.
Micah Mason, who finished the game with 9 points, is 11 of 15 from 3-point range in his three games since returning from a hand injury he suffered against Albany.
