The last time that Pascal Dupuis took the ice for the Pittsburgh Penguins, he skated off a winner, as the Penguins beat the New York Rangers, 3-2.
That was November 15, 2014.
Since then, it’s been a losing battle for Dupuis that has kept him off the ice.
Doctors found a blood clot in Dupuis’ lung shortly after, requiring six months of blood thinners and putting Dupuis on the shelf. Then, as the Penguins prepared to open the 2015-2016 season, Dupuis was diagnosed with a lower-body injury that was supposed to put him out of action for 4 to 5 weeks. But instead, word came out this morning that Dupuis will indeed suit up for the Penguins tonight as they take on the Dallas Stars.
“Finally playing a meaningful game, the team’s on a [winning] streak. I don’t want this thing to end,” Dupuis said, according to Yahoo! Sports. “Whatever they want me to do. Whatever line they want me to play on, I’ll try my best.”
According to Yahoo!, head coach Mike Johnston said that he will watch Dupuis’ minutes, and he will move him around the lineup.
Dupuis, 36, and the Penguins (3-3-0) will drop the puck against the Stars (5-1-0) at 7 p.m. at Consol Energy Center.
