Duquesne (15-9, 5-6) fell to No. 19 Dayton (20-3, 10-1) 76-74 tonight after leading with five minutes to go.
Senior guard Micah Mason led the Dukes and court with 27 points. Senior guard Derrick Colter added 21.
Junior guard Charles Cooke led the Flyers with 22 points.
Dayton rallied from a 12-point deficit with under six minutes left, closing the game with a 19-5 run.
Mason hit a career-high seven 3-pointers while Colter scored 19 of his 21 points in the second half.
Tonight marks Dayton’s eighth consecutive win and twentieth consecutive home Atlantic 10 win.
Duquesne led for 16:33 of the first half that ended tied 35-35, according to goduquesne.com. The Flyers responded with a 10-2 run and led by eight with 15 minutes to go before the Dukes took a one-point lead on a Colter three with 11:17 left.
Duquesne returns home to face UMass (9-13, 2-8) on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the annual Chuck Cooper Classic. Sunday’s game will recognize the All-Century Team in conjunction with Duquesne’s 100th basketball season.
