No. 11 seed Duquesne (16-16) fell to No. 14 seed La Salle (9-21) 88-73 last night in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Championship at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Senior guard Micah Mason led the Dukes with 26 points, including six 3-pointers. Senior guard Derrick Colter added 18 and freshman guard Mar’Qywell Jackson contributed 10.
Redshirt junior guard Jordan Price led the Explorers with 36 points.
Duquesne turned the ball over 11 times. La Salle took advantage of these errors to outscore the Dukes 18-7 off turnovers in the first half.
Mason hit a pair of 3-pointers in the first two minutes of the second half to give the Dukes a 46-43 lead before Price answered with two back-to-back 3-pointers to make the game 51-46 La Salle. The Explorers led the rest of the game.
La Salle outscored Duquesne .538 to .424 from the field and outrebounded the Dukes 35-28.
