The Duquesne Dukes (7-13, 2-7) take on the Davidson Wildcats (14-6, 5-4) tonight at 7:00 p.m. ET at the Belk Arena in Davidson, North Carolina in an attempt to stop the highest scoring team in the Atlantic 10.
The Wildcats were picked to finish 12th in the A-10 preseason poll and lead the conference in averaging 80.3 ppg. This is the first meeting between Duquesne and Davidson, a first-year A-10 member.
Davidson has five players averaging double digits, led by senior guard Tyler Kalinoski at 16.5 ppg. Seven Wildcats have scored 20 or more points in a game this season. Aside from scoring, Davidson also leads the A-10 in scoring margin (+10.7), free throw percentage (.734), 3-point percentage (.397), defensive rebounds (26.1), assists (17.1), assist/turnover ratio (1.7) and 3-pointers made (10.7) through Wednesday.
Duquesne is coming off a 62-53 win over George Mason on Saturday that snapped a six-game losing streak for the Dukes. In the win, junior guard Derrick Colter led the court with 16 points, followed by 10 points from junior guards Micah Mason and Jordan Stevens each.
The Dukes are looking for their first road win tonight since Nov. 22 at Abilene Christian. Three of Duquesne’s nine A-10 games have been decided in the last possession.
Davidson had a 15-game win streak at Belk Arena snapped in a buzzer-beater 62-61 loss to St. Bonaventure Wednesday. The Wildcats are 9-2 at home. Head coach Bob McKillop is in his 26th season at Davidson, having led his team to 20 or more wins in 21 of his 25 seasons.
Duquesne is having the best 3-point shooting season in school history since 1992 at .371 (161-434), and is on track to challenge the school record for single-season 3-point shooting percentage.
