The Duquesne Dukes(8-15, 3-9) look for their first Atlantic 10 road win Wednesday night, facing La Salle (14-11, 6-6) at 7:00 pm ET at the Tom Gola Arena in Philadelphia, Pa.
Both teams are coming off Saturday losses; the Dukes are reeling from an 82-74 loss at UMass while La Salle recovers from a 77-69 decision to Davidson at home. Despite their record, including 0-6 in road conference play, Duquesne has been outscoring Atlantic 10 opponents by +3.0 ppg at home, with three of the Dukes’ Atlantic 10 games coming down to the last possession. Duquesne has been outscored by 19.2 ppg in conference road games.
The Explorers were picked to finish seventh in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll, led by the conference’s second-leading scorer redshirt sophomore guard Jordan Price. Price averaged 28 points and 10.5 rebounds in two games last week to earn Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week. La Salle has one of the best frontcourts in the Atlantic 10 with 6-11 senior center Steve Zack (8.0, 9.0) and 6-8 senior forward Jerrell Wright (11.9, 6.4).
This is the 71st meeting between the two teams in a series dating back to 1940. La Salle leads the series 40-30, including a 20-13 lead in Atlantic 10 regular season games.
The Explorers have won five of the past six games in Pittsburgh while Duquesne has bested La Salle in four of the past six games in Philadelphia.
Duquesne will put forward their best 3-point shooting team (.365) since 2003 (.366).
The game will be broadcast by the American Sports Network, ESPN 970 AM, iHeartRadio and 3WS HD2, and will be available for live streaming on Red Zone Media.
