The Duquesne Dukes (3-5) look to move past their 67-52 Saint Francis loss Wednesday night as they take on the UMass Lowell River Hawks (6-4) today at 1:00 p.m. ET at the A.J. Palumbo Center.
Today’s game is the second meeting between Duquesne and UMass Lowell in a series that the Dukes lead 1-0 with last year’s 95-77 win at Lowell, Massachusetts. Duquesne set a season high for points and field goal percentage (.623).
UMass Lowell is coming off a 10-day recess since their 69-48 home loss to Dartmouth on December 10. The River Hawks are 4-3 on the road.
Duquesne’s junior guard Derrick Colter is ranked third nationally in individual 3-point percentage (.590) through Wednesday. Freshman TySean Powell has missed only 14 shots in his first eight college games, leading his team in scoring five double-digit games, netting 13 dunks, and completing conventional three-point plays (5 in 5 attempts).
UMass Lowell’s first year transfer graduate student guard Marco Banegas-Flores is averaging 10.5 ppg and leads his team with 25 assists and 19 steals. Redshirt freshman guard Jahad Thomas leads the team with 14.2 ppg.
In their past two games, the Dukes have been outrebounded 91-65 and have an average of 12.9 turnovers per game this season.
