Coming off a 75-59 loss to Robert Morris on Saturday, the Duquesne Dukes (3-4) will take on the Saint Francis Red Flash (4-4) Wednesday at 7:00 pm ET at the A.J. Palumbo Center, opening a four-game homestand.
The Dukes hope to snap their three-game losing streak, having won 31 of the past 33 meetings, the last 11 in a row, over Saint Francis. Last year, Duquesne defeated Saint Francis 78-71 in Loretto, PA, rising from a 10-point halftime deficit.
This will be the 75th meeting between the Dukes and the Red Flash, dating back to 1914. Duquesne leads the series 62-12.
Saint Francis’ last win at Duquesne was on Dec. 1st, 1966 at the Civic Arena. Duquesne has won 16 games in a row over Saint Francis at home.
The Red Flash return their top four starters from last year, led by senior forward Earl Brown (14.4 ppg). In their third season under head coach Rob Krimmel, all four of the Red Flash’s losses have been on the road.
In their past three games, the Red Flash are shooting 54.9 percent from the field, including 30-of-65 (.462) from beyond the arc. Saint Francis will return from an 11-day recess, playing their first game since the team’s 69-59 win over Albany on Dec. 6.
Duquesne’s junior guard Derrick Colter is ranked second nationally in individual 3-point percentage (21-35, .600) through Sunday’s games. Colter and freshman guard Eric James each scored 17 points against Robert Morris Saturday. The Dukes outrebounded Robert Morris 46-36.
The Red Flash’s Brown is 23 points away from becoming the 39th Saint Francis men’s basketball player to reach the 1,000 point mark in the school’s history.
The game will be covered by the A-10 Digital Network, WJAS 1320 AM radio, iHeartRadio, 3WS HD2, and streaming Red Zone Media.
