After its 76-62 fall to Pitt in the 83rd annual City Game Friday, Duquesne is ready to take on the Penn State University Nittany Lions today at 9:00 p.m. ET at the Bryce Jordan Center in State College, PA.
This will be the 46th game in the series, dating back to 1924, which Penn State leads 26-19. The Nittany Lions have won the past nine games against Duquesne, with the Dukes’ last win at State College in 1986. In their last meeting in 2013, Duquesne lost to the Nittany Lions 68-59 at home.
Penn State (9-1) is off to its best start since its 2000-2001 season, riding a six-game winning streak. The Nittany Lions are 4-0 at home.
Duquesne began the week and remains ranked first nationally in three-point field goal percentage (.458), shooting above 50 percent from the arc in 3 of 5 games. Duquesne’s junior guard Derrick Colter currently leads the nation in individual three-point percentage.
Off the bench, the Dukes have outscored the opposing bench 192-82 in its five games this season.
Penn State’s senior guard D.J. Newbill, who began the week ranked fourth nationally in scoring (23.3 ppg), has now scored over 500 points in each of his past two seasons.
