Duquesne (12-6, 2-3) travels to Richmond to take on VCU (13-5, 5-0) tonight at 7 p.m. at the Siegel Center.
After handing St. Bonaventure its first Atlantic 10 Conference loss on Saturday, the Dukes play their second consecutive undefeated Atlantic 10 opponent. VCU returns from a 94-89 OT win at Richmond on Saturday.
Duquesne, 1-3 on the road, holds opponents to a .406 field goal percentage, the lowest in 45 years. The defensive field goal percentage of .389 marks the best by a Duquesne team since the 1970-71 season. The Dukes held seven opponents under 40 percent this season, with only Pitt (.554) and South Carolina State (.456) shooting better than 45 percent, according to goduquesne.com.
VCU, a fourth-year Atlantic 10 member, leads the series 3-0 and 1-0 at Richmond. Last year, the No. 17 (AP) Rams defeated the Dukes 70-64 at CONSOL Energy Center.
VCU, picked to finish fifth in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll, forces 17.6 turnovers per game and limit opponents to 66.0 ppg. The Rams, 9-1 at home, are led by senior guard Melvin Johnson (18.4 ppg) and junior forward Mo Alie-Cox (9.3, 4.3).
