Duquesne (11-17, 6-11) defeated Fordham (9-19, 4-13) 81-66 last night at the Rose Hill Gym in Bronx, Ny in posting nearly 50 percent from behind the arc. The Dukes credited accurate long range shooting in their win.
Duquesne drained 10-of-22 three-point attempts, including 10 3-pointers from four Dukes’ players. Junior guards Derrick Colter and Micah Mason, senior forward Dominique McKoy and sophomore forward L.G. Gill each scored 16 points in the win. Junior guard Jeremiah Jones also finished with 13 points.
Wednesday’s game snapped a 10-game road losing streak for the Dukes.
Fordham senior guard Bryan Smith led the court with 17 points and had 5 rebounds. Freshman guard Eric Paschall did not play due to injury.
Duquesne held Fordham to 6-of-31 from the arc. The Dukes’ defense forced 12 Fordham turnovers and managed to convert those errors into 17 points. Fordham defense forced 10 Duquesne turnovers and scored a mere two points in the conversion.
The Dukes hit 17-of-21 free throws in the second half alone and were 19-of-25 overall.
Duquesne has now won three of their last four contests against Fordham.
The Dukes conclude regular season play against Davidson (21-6, 12-4) on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. ET at the A.J. Palumbo Center in Pittsburgh.
