Duquesne (6-8, 1-2) looks to defeat Saint Louis (8-8, 0-3) tonight at 8:00 pm ET at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Mo.
Both teams are coming off losses: the Dukes from a 61-60 decision to Rhode Island and the Billikens from an 89-54 Davidson loss. This is the 19th meeting between the two schools in a series led by Saint Louis 10-7.
Saint Louis is 6-4 at home. The Billikens boast a young team, with five of the top eight scorers being freshman and six who are in their first year. Freshman forward Milik Yarbrough earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors, leading the Atlantic 10 in conference-only scoring with 21.0 ppg. Saint Louis has held opponents under 60 points in six of their eight total wins, having won 66 consecutive games when holding opponents to 60 of fewer points.
Duquesne is 3-4 all-time at Saint Louis.
Junior guards Derrick Colter and Micah Mason began the week ranked as the nation’s second-best 3-point shooting backcourt at a combined .477. Colter was ranked second nationally in 3-point percentage (.552) and Mason was 38th through Jan. 11 games.
Three of Duquesne’s eight losses this season have come in one-possession games.
