The Duquesne Dukes women’s basketball team is off to a 2-1 start to the season as they prepare for their home opener Tuesday night against Howard.
On Monday, one of head coach Dan Burt’s new pieces to this year’s team earned some recognition.
Forward Kadri-Ann Lass was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week after scoring a career-high 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting in the Dukes’ 73-65 victory over Lafayette on Friday night.
She also pulled down five rebounds, four of which were offensive boards.
Lass, who has been in the starting lineup for all three of Duquesne’s games this season, has averaged 9.0 points 7.3 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game, making 46.4 percent of her shots from the floor.
“We’re very happy that Kadri has been recognized by the league office for her outstanding game against Lafayette,” Burt said in a statement. “We believe her best basketball is still ahead of her and that this will be the first of many awards for her dedication and skill.”
