When the Kansas City Chiefs selected Eric Kush in the 6th round of the NFL Draft, Kush became the highest drafted player ever from Cal U. He’s been living up to that name and has shown off his skills in Kansas City already. After the first weekend of mini camp has nearly come and gone, Kush will walk away with praise and a new contract.
The Chiefs have undoubtedly shown that their interest is in protecting their quarterback, whoever that may be on day one. They franchised tackle Branden Albert, drafted tackle Eric Fisher first overall, and then picked up Kush in the 6th round. The general manager of the Chiefs has already shown that he is a big fan of Kush, and no, I’m not talking about an illegal substance (get used to those jokes, folks).
Reid Ferrin of the Chiefs official website quoted Chiefs GM John Dorsey as saying, “He’s a really good athlete, his first two or three steps are exceptionally quick and to play the center position I think quickness is very, very important,” of Kush.
Kush has been putting in work and he said things aren’t much different from how things were ran at Cal U, “but I have to get used to the terminology and a higher level of play,” Kush said.
His contract is reportedly for four years but the numbers haven’t been released.
