Edinboro upset #22 ranked IUP this past Saturday in what coach Scott Browning called one of the biggest victories in his eight-year career as a head coach. To do that, they had a strong defense but also received some tremendous play from their redshirt-freshman quarterback, Jon Girvin.
With his team down 6-0 to start the second quarter, Girvin tossed a 26-yard pass to Jordan Williams to connect for a score and tied the game at six. Later with the scored tied 13-13, Girvin again excited the crowd, this time with a 75-yard bomb to Darrenn Massey for a touchdown. Girvin then threw a touchdown late in the first half to take the lead for good as he chucked a 34-yard strike to Ben Eisel.
For the day, Girvin finished with 262 yards passing on 14-of-27 passing with three touchdowns and an upset victory.
For his strong play and leading the Scots to a victory, Girvin is this week’s player of the week.
