Former Duquesne forward TySean Powell announced his decision to transfer to the University of the Pacific via Twitter today.
Powell, a 6’8 junior, left the Duquesne program in February, saying in his Twitter message, “I would like to thank the Duquesne Basketball Program for allowing me to pursue my dream of playing college basketball, but at this stage in my career I feel it is best to move on to different opportunities that fit me as a player and the family oriented person that I am.”
Powell joins first-year coach and former NBA Rookie of the Year Damon Stoudamire at Pacific. Pacific hired Stoudamire in March following former coach Ron Verlin’s suspension stemming from an investigation into academic misconduct.
The Twinsburg, Ohio native averaged 6.3 points and 4.9 rebounds in 20.6 minutes per game as one of the first players off the bench this season.
Powell’s eligibility for the 2016-17 season is not known.
