It didn’t take former Pitt cornerback Trenton Coles a long time to land at a new school.
After announcing his decision to transfer from Pitt during training camp, the Clairton product has announced that he will enroll at Duquesne.
Coles will be eligible to play immediately for the Dukes and was scheduled to practice on Tuesday.
Coles appeared in all 11 games for the Panthers last season as a freshman and began training camp with Pitt on Aug. 3 as a projected starter. He injured his ankle and ultimately lost his starting job to Reggie Mitchell, which prompted his decision to transfer.
He redshirted in 2012 and last season saw action on special teams and as a reserve defensive back, recording nine tackles, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.
Duquesne opened its season Saturday with a 38-28 loss to Buffalo. The Dukes play at Youngstown State on Saturday.
While he may have some catching up to do in the Duquesne defense, ultimately the move could work out great for both parties as Duquesne found themselves a pretty talented player.
