The Pittsburgh Steelers are continuing to look for additions to its offensive line.
The Steelers have brought in Geoff Schwartz, a former New York Giant, for a visit to Pittsburgh in hopes of making a deal.
The Steelers recently signed former Denver Broncos tackle Ryan Harris, but with the departure of Kelvin Beachum to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Steelers could use some more muscle on their offensive line.
Schwartz hasn’t always been on the field, though, even with his veteran status. He started off his career in Carolina with the Panthers in 2008. He saw action every year until 2011 when he suffered a hip injury, which put him on the team’s injured reserve list for the whole year. He ended up having surgery on his hip that same year.
In 2012, Schwartz found himself in a Minnesota Vikings uniform, but for only one season. He then made his way to the Kansas City Chiefs organization where he spent, again, only one season. He then was signed by the New York Giants in 2014.
In his first year with the Giants, he suffered a toe injury in the third preseason game. That injury sidelined Schwartz for the first 11 weeks of the season. He then returned to action for games against the Dallas Cowboys and the Jacksonville Jaguars. During the game against the Jaguars, Schwartz was injured again, suffering a broken ankle, and was out for the rest of the season.
This past 2015 NFL season, Schwartz played a good portion of the year. In Week 12, he fell to injury once again. He suffered broken leg injury against the Washington Redskins and was put on the team’s injured reserve list that same week. On February 10, 2016, Schwartz was officially cut from the Giants roster.
Now, Schwartz has a chance to revive his career in Pittsburgh. The Steelers have not released any news of an imminent deal, but have announced the news of Schwartz’ visit in Pittsburgh.
