Giants 2 – Tigers 0
The Giants pitching staff is for real. They are the first team to post back-to-back shutouts since 1966. The Giants tandem of Ryan Vogelsong (5 H, 0 ER, 4 BB, 3 K’s), Tim Lincecum, and Sergio Romo (Save) held the Tigers to no runs and only one scoring threat which came in the fifth inning when Alex Avila and Omar Infante singled before an Austin Jackson walk to load the bases with one out. Vogelsong, would then get Quintin Berry to strike out and Miguel Cabrera to pop out to end the threat. The Tigers would not get a hit the rest of the way as they are within one loss of World Series elimination.
The Giants offense, again, did barely enough to get the victory. They got both of their runs in the second inning when Hunter Pence led off the inning with a walk. He would take second on a Brandon Belt strikeout and score on a Gregor Blanco triple. Blanco would come in on a Brandon Crawford two out single to end the scoring at 2-0. The Tigers pitching staff was great as well as Anibal Sanchez went seven innings while only giving up the two runs in the second inning on seven baserunners (one walk). Infante led the Tiger offense with two hits.
