Gannon’s men’s basketball team has been on a mission the second half of the season. Now, after two wins this week, they are in sole possession of the top spot in the PSAC West. That success came in large part to Rogerio Livramento.
In Gannon’s first win, a 71-54 decision over Edinboro, Livramento played his role off the ben, snapping a three-game winning streak by the Fighting Scots at the Hammermill Center. Livramento scored six points on 3-of-7 shooting. He also picked up a rebound, a steal and an assist.
His big game, however, came against No. 7 IUP on Saturday. The 67-62 victory gave Gannon a season sweep of the Crimson Hawks, its first since the 2008-09 season. The win als gave the Golden Knights a 5-1 record against the top four teams in the PSAC West according to the team’s website. In the win, Livramento scored a career-high 25 points, beating his previous high of 17 against another top team, Slippery Rock, earlier this season. He shot a blistering 9-of-10 from the field and a perfect 7-of-7 from the charity stripe. The 6-foot-7 senior forward also added six rebounds, a block and a steal.
The week brings Gannon to a 16-8 record and an 11-3 PSAC West record. With wins in its final two games, Gannon can clinch the West’s No. 1 seed. With just a win over Clarion, Gannon can clinch a first-roun bye in the PSAC Tournament.
For helping the Golden Knights in achieving that success and overcoming the No. 7 team in the country, Livramento is this week’s Pittsburgh Sporting News player of the week.
