The Steelers offensive line is getting an overhaul this week against the Baltimore Ravens. Multiple players have been switched to different roles in hopes of a strong, steel-like lineup. Luckily, included in this hopeful Steelers lineup is one man in particular: Heath Miller.
With the Steelers shuffling the offensive line due to multiple injuries, they are beyond lucky to have a tight end of quality and quantity that represents the position with hefty experience and beast-like eagerness to win. No. 83 not only blocks like a barbarian but continues to strive to be one of the best tight end receivers in the NFL.
Having Todd Haley as offensive coordinator, Heath Miller, in ten games, is averaging 4.5 catches per game and has scored six touchdowns. Plus, let’s not forget his 2 point conversion catch in Cincinnati. Unlike the past two seasons with Bruce Arians, Miller averaged three catches per game and only scored four touchdowns. Also, take into account that he has 4,200 career receiving yards, which moves him past Plaxico Burress for the seventh-most in franchise history.
“If you have something unique that you need done and it requires some feel, you go right to him and he will get it done,” Haley continued. “… In the run game, he is fantastic. He does a great job on his blocks. He is also a quarterback out there, helping direct receivers and other tight ends. He is just a great teammate and a really good football player.”
Heath’s mighty, boisterous play appeals to Todd Haley and so be it. Miller is predominantly useful when the Steelers get inside the 20-yard line. His 16 red zone appearances lead the NFL and he has been targeted in the end zone nine times, which is tied for third in the league. His 6’5, 255 pound stature is enough to dominate his tight end position against any defending team, including the Baltimore Ravens.
The Steelers need a man of power and determination to set the Steelers straight with a win over the Baltimore. Heath Miller is ready to bust holes open for the newly assigned running back, Jonathan Dwyer and patiently awaits any type of pass opportunities from Charlie Batch. He is the man the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line absolutely needs this coming Sunday.
Let him do his “HEEEEATH” thing; endless abilities to block, catch, run, and most importantly, score. Not only does Todd Haley have the utmost confidence in Heath Miller, but the Steelers Nation does as well. Let’s go, No. 83. You got this.
